Continue to Midelt, a town nestled between the Middle and High Atlas ranges, before heading to Erfoud, the gateway to the Sahara. As you approach Merzouga, the golden dunes of the Erg Chebbi desert come into view. Spend the night in a traditional Berber camp, where you’ll enjoy a camel ride at sunset and a night under the stars.
Dedicate your second day to exploring the Merzouga Desert and immersing yourself in Berber culture. Visit a local Berber family to learn about their traditions, music, and way of life. Explore the desert’s unique landscapes, including fossil sites and the oasis of Merzouga. In the afternoon, relax at your desert camp or take a 4×4 excursion to discover hidden corners of the Sahara. As the sun sets, enjoy traditional Moroccan music and a delicious dinner around the campfire.
After a magical sunrise over the dunes, depart Merzouga and head to the breathtaking Todra Gorges, where towering cliffs rise dramatically above a narrow river. Take a walk through the gorge to soak in its natural beauty. Continue to the Dades Gorges, known for its winding roads and stunning rock formations. Spend the night in a hotel overlooking the gorge, where you can enjoy the peaceful atmosphere and panoramic views.
On your final day, travel through the Valley of Roses, stopping in Kelaat Mgouna to see rose-related products if you’re visiting in spring. Continue to the Skoura Oasis, a lush palm grove dotted with ancient kasbahs, visit the Amridil kasbah. Next, we will visit Taourirt kasbah and studio Atlas in Ouarzazate, and explore the famous Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and iconic filming location.
